BIBO
NOVA
Bibo heats, chills and filters water instantly at the touch of a button.
Alongside the industrial design and engineering of the hardware, Designworks designed and developed the interface for Bibo’s latest product, Nova.
Nova’s LCD touch display is the biggest in it’s category, so is easy to read and provides ample space for menu navigation of the new device’s expanded functionality.
For immediate launch and responsive lag-free interaction, the product employed embedded processing. Measures were taken to support a smooth workflow and GUI animations on such a large LCD display.
With a simple benchtop testing platform set up, interface designs could be wireframed in TouchGFX, and quickly flashed to the touchscreen for iterative testing and development.
To capitalise on the opportunity afforded by the Nova’s precise temperature capacity, a novel feature in this version was introducing custom user presets. An interface was designed for selecting and saving temperatures, dispense volumes and preset names; and a broad icon family designed for customers to choose whatever they needed for a given preset scenario.
Another novel feature of Nova is programmable economy settings, adaptable to each user’s daily routine and requirements. This customisation means everyone in a household or workplace can dispense exactly what they need, instantly. In combination with infrared sensor driven sleep/wake modes, and the many gains made in the thermodynamics of the hardware inside, the Nova represents an improved balance of convenience, with energy-efficiency and sustainability.
To prevent touch responses from steam and moisture, the LCD panel was bonded behind custom glass and a satin anti-reflective coating added to integrate with the matte finish enclosure panels, for a cohesive look and feel to the device.
