Lloyds mobile banking

Peoples’ daily lives are full and trying to find time to visit a branch is becoming increasingly difficult. Lloyds Banking Group aspired to take the bank to the customer. People need flexible and dynamic banking services. Design thinking allowed for an innovation-led process to identify this opportunity and understand how it could be integrated into Lloyds Banking Group’s core business, across the whole group including Lloyds Bank, Bank of Scotland and Halifax.

Developed in collaboration with Box Technologies, Designworks created a unique mobility solution to enable Lloyds banking team to offer flexible appointments with customers. The solution combined various devices such as an Apple iPad, card reader, wireless keyboard and stylus allowing for home appointments, mortgage video appointments and meetings at a workplace providing increased flexibility and customer engagement. Lloyds think, “Speaking face-to-face with a dedicated adviser about your mortgage needs can be invaluable, but we know it can be difficult to travel to your local branch at a suitable time.”

Designworks creative team of Industrial designers collected and analysed key insights to better understand the potential use cases and needs of the end user, such as mortgage and financial advisers. Creating a solution that protects the various devices in the lightest way became a crucial requirement of the industrial design. A protective iPad case with integrated kickstand that allows the mobile app to be used is both portrait and landscape orientations. The tablet is then combined with the other devices in an elegant folio carry case. This dynamic banking solution enabled the Lloyds Banking Group to offer a vastly improved customer experience.
