London EV Show 2022

Moving into the future…

London EV Show was back last week, this time at ExCeL London; so a perfect opportunity to try out the recently (finally) integrated Elizabeth Line.

It’s always a pleasure to meet people who are passionate about what they do, and the show was a really interesting insight into the breadth and depth of products and services companies are providing in this space. There were a host of interventions from the elegantly simple to the impressively complex, all aiming to make the provision of EV charging quicker, more efficient, safer and more inclusive. When thinking about EVSEs (which we do plenty of at DW) it’s all too easy to overlook some of the aspects of the built environment that serve them, not to mention the vehicles themselves...

Among the exhibitors we spotted were a company who refresh EVSEs in the field when they’ve been subject to weather and vandalism, preserving the life of them a little longer and keeping older hardware more sustainable and cost-effective.

A company with a decade of experience in parking (and therefore parking payment) are diversifying into software and hardware to integrate parking and EV charging payment, and have been able to leverage their existing sites to test and develop their products.

In the spirit of getting people engaged and to have some fun, a fellow design consultant were asking visitors to vote for their favourite form-factor of EVSE from their past and potential future product line – dangling the tantalising carrot of a free pen to those who voted.
